FEBRUARY 9TH 2018
Whitmore Lake 4th of July Committee Meeting 6:30p.m. at Northfield Twp. Public Safety Building. Volunteers needed !!! See how a few hours of your time can make a difference, call Dennis Cazan (734) 368-1668.
Pond Hockey Tournament:
Would you like to be a part of the largest 4-on-4 pond hockey tournament in Lower Michigan? The MPHC would not be the huge success it is without all of the generous help from volunteers. Hundreds of helping hands are needed and there are a wide range of volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers are needed for everything from door greeters to score runners and ice repair. With the help of our many volunteers we can ensure smooth sailing for pucks, players and fans!
If you have any interest in volunteering to work the 2018 MPHC, please get registered so that we have enough time to get your fleece (your uniform and gift to keep!) ordered.
We're also looking for some help THIS SATURDAY, January 20th, at 9:00am to unload the MPHC Trailer and carve out rinks. If you have a quad with a plow and can bring it, please send us a message so we can plan accordingly.
THE DATES OF THE 2018 MPHC ARE FEBRUARY 9-11, 2018
If you have any questions about volunteering for Pond Hockey, please contact:
** Please note that there will be at least ONE volunteer meeting (no more than 2 hours) prior to the event. Some areas will require more than one, but no more than three pre-event meetings, depending on how much training is needed. Please be mindful that the total commitment for volunteering is a minimum of one 4 hour shift during the event, and one to three pre-event coordination and training meetings.
On-going - Senior Nutrition Program Volunteers: Senior Lunches are served at the Community Center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week. Volunteers are always welcomed to help set-up for and serve the lunches, and to clean-up after.
On-Going - Meals-On-Wheels Drivers: We are working hard to get the Home Delivery portion of the Senior Lunch Program started. Our ONLY OBSTACLE is finding enough volunteer drivers to make the program run smoothly! Meals will be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. If you can spare a couple hours of your time on even one of these three days, and would like to make a difference in home-bound seniors’ lives, please let us know ASAP!
On-Going - Recycled Greeting Cards: The Community Center is accumulating a large stash of used greeting cards! If you are interested in creating beautiful new cards from old, we need your help. The “recycled” cards are then sold to help fund projects and programs here at the Community Center. Call Tami at 734-449-2295 for more information or to offer your help.
Up-Coming - Walking Path at the North Village: The Parks & Recreation Board will soon be creating and clearing out areas for walking paths at North Village (the new community park by the Post Office). Help will be needed with clearing out weeds and brush, and distributing woodchips.
