On Thursday February 24th at the State of the Chamber the Whitmore Lake Chamber of Commerce, division of the Brighton Chamber of Commerce, presented four awards to local business men.  The young men pictured with the Supervisor received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for their commitment to their produce stand in our Farmer’s Market.

The young businessmen treated this with the same fervor that any adult would who is doing a new start up business.  They were present and selling their wares every Saturday morning rain or shine, all summer long.

Sam Iaquinto and Pete Read received awards for bringing the Pond Hockey successfully once again to Whitmore Lake.  Their dedication and commitment to the event is helping to establish Whitmore Lake as a destination for recreation, their marketing efforts bring a heightened awareness of our community to those who don’t live here and the event attracts thousands who shop in our restaurants, stores and hotel.

Sue Booth received an award for community service for bringing the Run for the Rescue to enhance the Harvest Fest event.  The run was a 5 and 10K event that will be repeated in coming years.  Sue Booth and Pete Read were not able to be at the State of the Chambe so the awards were re-presented at the Township Board of Trustees Meeting on February  22nd and a group photo of the recipients will be posted when it is available.
