Washtenaw County has received a Neighborhood Stabilization Grant from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department.  This grant will be funded through HUD's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.  Washtenaw County can offer to its residents the opportunity to assist in downpayment and closing costs to low and moderate income homebuyers (household incomes may not exceed 120% of area median income).

The NSP grant also seeks to prevent future foreclosures by requiring housing counseling and prohibiting predatory lending practices for families receiving homebuyer assistance with NSP funds.  Interested homebuyers should contact MSU Extension at (734) 997-1678 to register for homebuyer education classes.
