Northfield Township, MichiganRibbon Cutting on Phase I of the Barker Road pathway 10-23-2011About 40 adults and a dozens of kids showed up to take the first steps or ride a bike along the newly opened first phase of the new bike and walking path. Several officials from the township, county and state were on hand to celebrate Northfield’s first such path. The Supervisor thanked all the groups, clubs and community organizations for their support in this effort. The biggest Thank You went to Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation for making the grant and path possible. Kids anxiously awaited the ribbon cutting to tear down the new constructed walkway. We had a three year old on his tricycle, mom and son side by side with wee ones in their bike trailer, a couple on their tandem and dozens walking or riding single bikes.
