Washtenaw County Emergency Management Division will be conducting warning siren testing on the first Saturday of each month through September at 12:00 noon. Please do not be alarmed when the siren goes off at this time on those Saturday's.
At any other time, the siren will indicate that significant severe weather has been detected (a tornado warning or a severe thunderstorm has been observed with damaging winds over 70 MPH), there has been a hazardous materials release in the community and you may need to evacuate or shelter in-place until the chemical has been contained or it has dissipated, or a major national security incident has occurred or is occurring.
A warning siren activiation is a signal to members of the community to immediately go indoors and monitor local Emergency Alert System media outlets for official information. Washtenaw County's emergency broadcasters are: WEMU 89.1 FM; W4 102.9 FM; WQKL 107.1 FM; WTKA 1050 AM; WLBY 1290 AM; WAAM 1600 AM; and Comcast Cable.
