DTE PROJECT UPDATE

Whitmore Lake Power Quality Project Update                             March 5, 2010

Work continues to move forward with Detroit Edison’s power quality efforts for residents of Green Oak and Northfield Township who live in the Whitmore Lake area.  We continue to follow the issues and plans laid out at our public meeting held back in October of 2009.

Detroit Edison staff has been in the field trying to contact all homeowners with an existing utility easement.  Due to the wholesale replacement of poles, guying, conductors and related equipment – we need to have an updated signed, notarized easement release.  Karen Green is managing that effort, and can provide notary services (734-397-4032).  Updating the easement documents from residents, the MDEQE and the Livingston & Washtenaw County Road Commissions are of utmost importance in commencing with the system improvements.

As suggested in the public meeting, extensive line clearance (tree/brush clearing) has been performed.  Private woodlot owners now have easier access to fell their dead trees which have been dropping into DTE easements and surging our equipment.  That is an important, cooperative step which needs to be taken to protect their neighbors, especially in future storms.

We have completed the overhead design for East Shore (that work also is contingent upon easement releases), and have issued the work order for most of McNally.  Once we receive all outstanding permits, we can begin work on McNally.

I thank you for your cooperation, and continuing interest as this effort moves toward spring.  Assuming the community, and neighbors work together on the paperwork and access issues—we anticipate you will see a great deal of activity in the coming weeks.

Regards,
