The Township Board is asking the residents to approve a millage that will combine the current 4 1/2 mills that are in effect for the Fire Department. These old millages were voted on by the residents as they were needed quite a while ago. In doing this, we have a bookkeeping nightmare because two of the millages are for Fire and two are for Medical Rescue. All costs have to be paid out of the appropriate pot of money. Combining these 4 millages into one will improve the efficiency of allocating the expenses. We will be asking for the mills to equal exactly what was used in the 2007 tax year so this will not be an increase for most residents. There will be more information forthcoming and some public forums to help every resident understand the millage request.
