Here's What's Happening in Northfield Township...

Downtown Development Authority &
Downtown Planning Group Joint Meeting


The Northfield Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the Downtown Planning Group will be holding a joint meeting on Monday, April 24th at 7:00PM at the Northfield Township Public Safety Building, 8350 Main St., 2nd Floor, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189. We will be discussing the Downtown Strategic Plan with a representative from McKenna Associates.  The public is invited to attend. 


Road Commission Annual Meeting


The annual meeting with the Washtenaw County Road Commission will be held during the next Township Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, April 25 at 7:00PM.  

Board of Trustees meetings are held at:

     8350 Main St., 2nd floor
     Whitmore Lake, MI 48189

The Historical Society Presents...


Join us on Thursday, May 11 from 6:00-8:30PM for a presentation on Northfield Township's Centennial Farms.  Representatives of the Kennedy, Kelley, and O'Brien Families will bring to life the history of Northfield Township through stories of their centennial farms.

- Doug Kennedy will speak about the Kennedy farm Established in 1835
- Thomas O'Brien will speak about the O'Brien farm established in 1837
- Jacob Donner will speak about the Kelley farm established in 1883.

The presentation will be held at the Northfield Township Public Safety Building, 8350 Main St., Whitmore Lake.  There will be a potluck dinner, so if you are able please bring a dish to pass. We hope you can make it to learn about this great history!! 



Community Garden


Come one, come all!  This year, the Community Garden is growing!  If you are interested in growing your own vegetables, flowers, and your community, now is your opportunity.  The Community Garden is located on Main Street, kiddy-corner from the Northfield Township Community Center (formerly the Northfield Senior Center) in Whitmore Lake.  Plots are free and assigned on a first come, first served basis.  

Come help build your community while beautifying your neighborhood.  If you are interested in reserving a plot, please contact Jennifer Carlisle at the Northfield Township office. 



County Clean-up Day, June 10th


Northfield Township is hosting it's fourth annual Washtenaw County Clean-up Day!  Join us June 10th from 9:00AM-2:00PM at the Northfield Township Public Safety Building.  This is the perfect opportunity for you to get rid of those things you aren't quite sure what to do with: old appliances, tires, furniture, car batteries, paint cans, motor oil... the list goes on!

We want to keep our community looking beautiful, but we need your help!  Please join us on June 10th to clean-up our little corner of Washtenaw County. Help us make this our most successful year yet!

Board of Review


Are you a resident of Northfield Township?  Do you love your community? Would you like to do more to help your township prosper?  Well, we may just have the opportunity you're looking for!

The Board of Review is seeking a member of the community to serve as a Board Alternate.  The Board of Review's purpose is to review the assessment roll received from the Assessor for complete, accurate, uniform and valid data. The Board of Review meets in March, July and December each year.  In March, the Board of Review conducts public hearings on property appeals. In July and December, they review clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact, and situations involving hardship exemptions, principal residency exemptions, and qualified agricultural property exemptions.  All members serve a 2 year term.  Visit the Board of Review web page for more information.
