North Village RFP Proposal Received

North Village RFP Proposal Received

McKenna Associates, with guidance from the Downtown Development Authority and the Downtown Planning Group, recently created a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the North Village.  With this RFP, Northfield Township was seeking development proposals from qualified Respondents to purchase the Township-owned property by the Post Office and commit to developing all or a portion of the 23-acre mixed-use North Village. Any corresponding development is intended to complement the surrounding neighborhoods, historic architecture, and traditional character of Downtown Whitmore Lake while also addressing public amenities, lake views and natural features, desirable connections to Downtown, parking, site access, and community vitality.

The deadline for submission was June 20th.  We have received one proposal for development of the North Village from Lockwood Companies.  Their proposal balances public improvements and private land uses in a complementary way, both physically and in terms of community benefit.  Their proposal is currently being reviewed and scored by Paul Lippens, Northfield Township's Planning Consultant through McKenna Associates.  Paul will bring his recommendation to the Board of Trustees within the next few weeks.

The Board of Trustees is looking forward to reviewing this proposal and is excited about the potential development of our downtown.
