Northfield Public Safety Academy

The Northfield Township Police and Fire Department is proud to announce the first Citizens’ Public Safety Academy. Ever wonder what it’s like to be a police officer or firefighter? What skills and training would you need? You can find out by joining us for the 1st Annual Citizen’s Public Safety Academy.

The Public Safety Academy is free of charge and consists of 1 night per week from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for a total of 9 weeks. Classes start forming in late September 2009, starting at 6:30 p.m. and will be held every Wednesday thereafter.

You are eligible to attend if you live or work in Northfield Township, are at least 18 years old and do not posses any criminal record. Submit your enrollment application today. Applicants will be pre-screened before being accepted.

Taught by our officers and command staff, you’ll learn about:

· Community Policing

· Criminal Law & Court Operations

· Evidence Processing & Crime Scene Handling

· Traffic Law & Crash Investigations

· Firearms - Shoot/Don’t Shoot Scenarios

· EMS Rescue Operations & Demonstrations

· Fire Suppression & Vehicle Fire Scenarios
