On-going Programs

Mondays

Open Drawing/Painting, 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
If you enjoy sketching or painting join this group of artists.  You will need to bring your own supplies and enjoy sketching a live model.  There are no instructions given.  There is a small fee to pay the model.  The group is always looking for models.  They will pay the model.  Call the center if you would like to model.

Tuesdays

Chair Yoga, 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
Every five weeks a new session will begin.  Call the center for the next session. 
This class is a carefully crafted mix of stretch, strength and balance designed for the 50+ crowd.  All Yoga is done from the comfort of a chair or with the aid of a chair.  Each class must have 6 people to make the class go. 

Drum Aerobics, 1 2 p.m., $1 drop-in fee.
This is a drop in class! Whatever your fitness level, you will enjoy this group.  We start the class by warming up then go into drumming aerobic style. We will also use weights and stetch bands.

Pinochle, 2:15-4 p.m., no charge. 

Wednesdays

Coupon Cutting, 10 - 11 a.m.   We are collecting manufacturer coupons and sending them to our troups abroad.  The coupons need to be cut and sorted and we could use some help with this.  Stop in and give us a hand.

Northfield Needles, 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.    1st Wednesday of each month
This is a group, which sews quilts for both children and older adults. The quilts are donated to Northfield’s Adopt-a-Family and to the Northfield Township Fire and Police Departments. You are welcome to just drop in or you can call for details if you are interested in helping in this worthwhile project. We are also soliciting donations to be used for the purchase of batting for the quilts.  They are adding making mittens also.

Wii Games, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.     (not on first Wednesday)
Wii Bowling, golf, baseball, tennis.  Get a team together and have some fun.

Thursdays

Kiwanis Club, 9-10 a.m. 2nd and 4th Thursdays
This is a civic organization comprised of people who give of themselves back to the community.  If you are interested in joining stop by   and see what it\'s all about.

MAH Fitness Class, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.  Every six weeks this class starts a new session.  The instructor Mark Harris teaches you how to balance and exercise on an exercise ball.  Other exercises are done using the ball or sitting on the ball.  Come and observe a class.  It is fun and a great work out.  Call for class schedule.  WCC provides the class the fee will cover overhead.

Book Talk, 4th Thursday, 11:30 a.m.
Anyone who enjoys a good book will love this group and is welcome to participate. Bonnie Bentley from the Northfield Township Library is our facilitator, and she brings a new stack of books each month. On alternate months, Bonnie brings a selection for everyone to read and to discuss the following month.

Pinochle, 2:15-4 p.m., no charge. 

Fridays

Recycled Cards, 11 a.m. - noon
This group makes new greeting cards out of used ones, then we sell them for 50 cents.  It\'s easy and fun to do.  We need more people to help with this project.  If you have any used greeting cards bring them in and see what we can do with them.  Please do not tear them.  We cut any writing off and use most of the card.

Knit/Crochet/Craft group,  11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
There is no instruction, this is a group of people who are working of their projects while making friends.

 

Did you know . . .

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays seniors are invited to enjoy a noon meal at the United Methodist Church on Main and East Shore Drive. Home delivered meals are also available from this location. Call Director Gayanne Courte at 734-449-8480 for reservations and details.

If you need a ride to the doctor, to a hair appointment, shopping or for another reason, call Peoples Express 734-216-6073 for details.  You can be picked up at your door and delivered to your appointment, and then returned when you are finished.
