Wash. Co. Sheriff Town Hall meeting

Community: TOWN HALL meeting on Policing and Community Interactions

The events of last week were horrific and across our nation we are grieving. Many are confused, angry, sad, afraid, frustrated and want to know what can be done regarding the state of police and community relations. Thirty second sound bites or a quick answer doesn't do the conversation justice. So our Town Hall is going to take some serious time to have a back and forth conversation and dialogue with residents from some of our local leaders. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, Sheriff Jerry Clayton, Prosecutor Brian Mackie, ACLU Attorney Mark Fancher, and a young man from our community, Miles McGuire will be on hand to answer questions, offer insight, and discuss what is currently being done and what we still need to do. None of this can be done in 30 second sound bites or in Facebook posts, but through detailed responses to detailed questions we will attempt to bring unity towards a common mission.

If you're interested in being a part of this conversation you can join us on Thursday July 21st at the EMU Student Center Ball Room. The conversation will be moderated by David Fair of WEMU.

From 6:00pm to 7:00pm a Unity session will be held followed by the Town Hall Meeting from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. All are welcome.

The Student Center is located at 900 Oakwood St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.

PARKING is free. Please park in the Student Center parking lot. If that lot is full you can park in the A-1 lot on the south side of the Towers or in the Hoyt lot which is just past A-1
