****UPDATE 1 (9:16am 3/10/16):****
Advisory: AVOID Eight Mile Road overpass at US-23 for the next few months due to bridge closure.

The Northfield Township Police Department is advising that the bridge over US-23 and Eight Mile Road will be CLOSED for the next 3 months.

A traffic crash involving a semi truck on NB US-23 and Eight Mile has caused significant bridge damage. Due to the severity in damage, MDOT engineers have determined that, in the interest of motorist safety, the bridge over US-23 and Eight Mile remain closed until repairs can be made. This closure will require a detour of traffic for the next few months while repairs are being made.

Please plan accordingly and seek alternate routes until the bridge is back open.

****UPDATE 2 (2:34pm 3/10/16):****

MDOT has advised they will be taking down the section of bridge that was struck earlier today by a semi truck. The demolition will begin either tonight or tomorrow and take an undetermined amount of time to complete. During this time, NB US-23 at Eight Mile Road will remain closed. Traffic is being diverted at Eight Mile in Whitmore Lake.

Motorists should consider an alternate route during this time.

Eight Mile Road over US-23 between Whitmore Lake Road and Main St will be closed indefinably until repairs can be completed on the bridge. Motorists traveling that section of the road are advised to seek alternate routes.
