May 3, 2016 Election News

 

  • Last Day to Register:
    The last day to register to vote in the May Election is Monday, April 4, 2016.  To register, please contact the Northfield Township Clerk’s office at 734-449-2880 ext. 14 or visit your local Secretary of State office.

    To see if you are already registered, visit www.Michigan.gov/vote.  There you will find information about registering to vote and voting, voting equipment, polling place locations, state and local ballots, the candidates, campaign finance, and more.  Our Clerk's office can also help you with questions about your voter registration, polling place locations, and working at the polls.
     
  • What's On the Ballot?
    There is one item on the May 3rd Ballot for all Precincts:
    Washtenaw Intermediate School District Special Education Millage Proposal.

  • Absentee Voters:

    Absent voter ballots are available for all elections. They provide voters with a convenient method for casting a ballot when they are unable to attend the polls on election day.

    As a registered voter, you may obtain an absent voter ballot if you are:
           * Age 60 years old or older
           * Unable to vote without assistance at the polls
           * Expecting to be out of town on election day
           * In jail awaiting arraignment or trial
           * Unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons
           * Appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your precinct of residence.

     Absent Voter Ballot Application

    Those who wish to receive an Absent Voter ballot by mail must submit applications to the Northfield Township Clerk's office before 2:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2016.  Our office will be open from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm on this day to accept applications and issue ballots.  

    Absent Voter Applications must be received in the Northfield Township Clerk's office by 4:00PM on Monday, May 2, 2016.  Anyone turning in an Absent Voter Application on May 2nd, MUST submit their completed Absent Voter Ballot in-house on this day.  Any Absent Voter Ballots received after election day cannot be tabulated.

    All polling locations are accessible to voters with disabilities.  The AutoMARK voter assist terminal, Braille instructions, and audio instructions are also available at all polling locations.

 

  • Election Inspectors:

    Election Inspectors are still needed!  We would like to have 6 individuals at each polling location to ensure a smooth and efficient election, and we need you!  Election Inspectors are responsible for making sure that voters are processed in a fair, efficient manner in accordance with Election Law.  Election Inspectors are required to work a full 16 hour day on Election Day, and must attend training prior to working at the polls.  Election Inspectors are paid for their time.  Contact the Clerk’s Office for details: 734-449-2880 ext. 14.
