Where can I find more information about the new Northfield Community Park?
In 2016, Northfield Township purchased approximately 23 acres of lakefront property just north of the Whitmore Lake Post Office. Multiple grants have since been obtained by the township to begin constructing the Northfield Township Community Park. Construction on the Community Park will begin with paved entry, parking and trails. Shade structures, exercise equipment and play equipment are expected to be installed in 2024. The township is continuing to look for grant opportunities to install further amenities such as restrooms, a pavilion and more! How do I get a burn permit?
You must have a burn permit for Open Burning in Northfield Township. Permits are available at the Northfield Township office. Burn Permits are issued for the burning of natural yard waste and brush, are good for 4 days, and there is no cost. Click here for more information.
Do you have a Notary Public on staff?
The Northfield Township Police Department can provide notary services during business hours free of charge. However, there may be an occasion that we are unable to fulfil this service. Please contact the office at (734) 449-9911 to confirm notary services are available.
The Northfield Township Area Library also has notary services available and is able to notarize your documents free of charge. Walk-ins are welcome, but call ahead to ensure a notary is available (734) 449-0066.
How often are sewer bills issued and how long do I have to pay them?
Sewer bills are issued on the 1st of the month in February, May, August and November. They are payable until the end of the month without penalty. After the end of the month, there is a 10% penalty.

Where do I go to pay my sewer bill/tax bill?
Sewer bills and tax bills can be paid with cash, check, credit card/debit card*, or money order.
Option A: You can pay your bills at the Township Office:
- in person during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (closed from 1:00-1:30pm daily for lunch)
- by check using either of our 24 hour drop boxes (outside of the Public Safety Building or in the office vestibule). Please DO NOT leave cash payments in the drop boxes.
- by mail - payments by mail must be received in our office by the due date on the bill in order to avoid late fees - we do not accept postmarks as payment date. We are not responsible for delays in mail delivery.
Option B: You can pay your bill on-line using a credit/debit card*
Northfield Township allows residents to pay sewer and tax bills online*. This service is provided through Point & Pay. To make your payment on-line, simply click on the link above, and look up your account in the various search options on the left hand menu bar of the web page. From there, click on the payment link next to your bill amount and follow through with each page / prompt.
Option C: You can pay over the phone using a credit/debit card*

**There is a fee of 3% when paying with your credit/debit card.**
This fee is charged by the Point & Pay, not Northfield Township.
Failure to receive your bill does not waive the past due penalties.
How do I get a dog license?
A dog license can be purchased at the Washtenaw County Treasurer's office.
Does Northfield Township provide trash service?
No, Northfield Township does not supply trash service. There are many privately owned companies that supply service to Northfield Township residents. Some of them are listed below. Please contact your desired service provider to see if they service your area and to set up service:

Where is the nearest recycling center?
For newspapers, magazines, catalogs, and office/school papers, a recycling bin is located at 75 Barker Rd. For all other recyclables, please call Washtenaw County Solid Waste Program at (734) 994-2398 for the nearest recycling facility, or visit the Washtenaw County Recycling, Home Toxics & Solid Waste web page.
Where can i dispose of my medications?
Northfield Township has a Red Barrel located in the Police Department at the Public Safety Building (8350 Main St.) for disposing of unused and expired medications!
